1st Birthday!

We had Atticus's first birthday party (Dol) yesterday.  We did it in the traditional Korean style with the han bok, the fortune telling ritual, korean food and dol towers.  My mother provided the delicious food and we really couldn't have done it any better ourselves.  So thankful for my awesome mother, more and more every day!  Anyways on to the pictures of our little toddler! (Can't believe how much he has changed since just a year ago).

Here is Atticus with his traditional Han bok on and his old pops.

The little emperor sitting in front of his big feast.

The feast courtesy of my amazing mom. My contributions are the candy, Oreo, and orange towers.

Atticus with his Halmeoni and Harabeoji.

With his Aunty Grace and Uncle Bob.

We opened presents a little later but Atticus was not interested in the drama of the reveal, so I had to do most of it while he wandered around.  Here is Atticus playing with a wooden alligator his Uncle Nathan got him.

Here's Atticus's friend Orion playing with the mouse scooter we bought him.  Atticus has yet to warm to it.

Atticus and Gabriella listening to Trisha read Brown Bear, Brown Bear.

And the moment we've all been waiting for CAKE!

Atticus was surprisingly neat with his cake.  He didn't smash it or rub it all over his face.  He made sure maximized his cake eating efficiency by getting as much of it in his mouth. :)

And we will leave you with this video.  It's a Korean tradition to have the birthday boy/girl have various objects in front of him and they are encouraged to pick one item.  It is believed that the object they choose will foretell their future.  We had five items: Ball = Athleticism, Ball of yarn = Longevity,  Pen = Studious, Tambourine = Musician, and $100 = Wealth.  What did Atticus choose??
